Gurmeet Ram rahim with three others have been convicted in the murder case of a journalist.A special court of Haryana have declared him to be guilty for this case, he will be sentenced on 17th January. After the verdict given by judge Jagdeep Singh, HPS Verma told news agency that “All the four accused have been convicted”, Verma is a lawyer for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Self-styled godman Ram Rahim was present in the hearing of court through video conferencing. Currently he is serving 20 years of imprisonment in Sunaria jail at rohtak for being accused in a rape case since 25th August 2017, for raping two of his female followers. His conviction in 2017 regarding the rape case had triggered riots in Panchkula, where 40 people were killed.
This case was registered in the year 2003 and handed over to the CBI in 2006. Journalist Chattrapati was shot in front of his house in October of 2002. This incident took place when Ram Chander Chattrapati’s newspaper ‘Poora Sach’ published a news on how women were being sexually assaulted by Ram Rahim at the ‘Dera’ headquarters in sirsa. After 2017 riot, Haryana Police is now on high alert to avoid any such untoward incident this time.
